It is 30 years since my Dad, Max Boyd, died. However, because of his legacy of wonderful art, he lives on in my life every day through scenes of our great country adorning my walls.
This is the story of a life which began during World War I in a Queensland pastoral setting, continued with extensive travel in outback Queensland in an era of unprecedented growth culminating in a successful 30-year corporate career. From regional areas to the vibrancy of Sydney, this move eventually led to his dream retirement of nearly two decades filled with artistic achievement, Australian and international travel and community involvement.
My thanks go to my cousin, Karen Ransome, for her insightful advice on format, my sister, Penny, for information I did not have and, most of all, to my son-in-law, Matt Batterham, who donated many hours setting up this website and assisting in its completion.
After storing so much information on my Dad’s life, and so many of his works, for nearly 30 years, and spending months searching through, photographing and recording it digitally, I am very happy to share all I know of a shy, talented, articulate and much loved and respected human being – my father, Max Boyd.
